I'm basically posting everything I've ever written to make up for lost time

The Pond

He circled around the pond, breathing deeply in unison with the rustling breeze, together forming a choir of moving air. The pond stood still, an oasis in the hectic movement of the surrounding forest. The pond stood still. Every so often a fish splash or a drop of rain water fell upon the water’s surface. A sequence of ripples provided evidence of time for those who couldn’t believe.

Ten times he made his way down the never-ending trail. Ten times he circled the pond. Ten times he thought about life, and the apple he once ate for breakfast. Ten times he thought about his latest mistake. But the pond stood still. The pond didn’t judge.

It doesn’t matter what we do in life, as long as we remain in motion.
